Disclaimer

This is a free diagnostic tool, and it's a genuinely useful one — but it's a helper, not a verdict. Here's how to read what it tells you (and the formal terms, which are worth having written down).

Provided "as is"

This tool is offered "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee the tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate for every controller, browser, or operating system.

Diagnostic results are indicative

Readings depend on your browser, drivers and hardware. A result here is a helpful indicator, not a definitive verdict on your controller's condition. Confirm important findings with additional testing before making repair, return, or purchase decisions.

No liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage — including to hardware, or from decisions made based on the tool's output — arising from your use of Gamepad Tester. You use it at your own risk. Take care when testing vibration and when opening or repairing any hardware.

Trademarks & affiliation

Gamepad Tester is an independent utility and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, or any controller manufacturer. Xbox, PlayStation, DualSense, Nintendo Switch and all other product names, logos and brands are the property of their respective owners, used here only for identification and compatibility reference.

Short version: treat what you see here as a strong hint, not proof. Double-check before you open a controller up or send one back.
